PNG stays PNG, JPG stays JPG.

How to compress an image to 200KB

    STEP 1

    Add your image

Drag and drop a JPG, PNG or WebP file — or several at once. Nothing is uploaded; the file stays on your device.

    STEP 2

    Pick the target size

200KB is selected by default, and tapping a size picks just that one. Switch on “Select multiple sizes” if you need several at once (or type a custom size). For each size the compressor adjusts quality — and dimensions when quality alone can't reach the size — until the file lands on target.

    STEP 3

    Download the result

Save any single size from its row, or grab everything at once as a ZIP — every image in every selected size, each file named by its size. The new sizes are shown before you download.

Why compress an image to exactly 200KB?

Many official portals set a hard 200KB limit on uploaded photos and documents. A file at 201KB gets rejected, so a generic "compress image" tool that lands at 350KB doesn't help — you need a compressor that targets an exact size. That's what this tool does: it works backwards from your target and adjusts quality (and dimensions, only when necessary) until the file fits.

    Government & exam forms

Online application portals for jobs, exams, visas and ID documents commonly cap photo and signature uploads at 200KB or less.

    Job applications

Recruiter portals and company career pages often reject oversized CV photos and scanned certificates. Compress to the stated limit and upload without errors.

    Faster websites & shops

Images under 200KB load noticeably faster on mobile, which helps page speed, SEO rankings and marketplace listing quality scores.

    Email & messaging

Smaller images send faster, use less data and stay under attachment limits — useful when sharing product photos or design proofs with clients.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 200KB?

Drop your image into the box at the top of this page, keep the target at 200KB, and wait a second while the tool compresses it. It automatically balances quality and dimensions so the result is at or under 200KB, then you download it.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. All compression runs locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files never leave your device, which also makes it much faster than upload-based tools — and safe for ID photos and personal documents.

Which image formats can I compress?

JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP. You can export as JPEG (best all-rounder for photos), WebP (usually the smallest files, supported by all modern browsers and portals) or PNG (lossless, keeps transparency — but harder to squeeze under small targets, so dimensions may be reduced).

Will the compressed image lose quality?

A small amount, by design — that's how the file gets smaller. The tool lowers quality gradually and stops as soon as the target is met, and only reduces dimensions when quality adjustments alone can't reach the target. For form photos, signatures and web images, the difference is usually invisible.

My image is already smaller than 200KB. What happens?

It's left as-is and marked "already under target" — you can still download a copy. If you chose a different output format, it will be converted to that format instead.

Can I compress multiple images at once?

Yes. Select or drop as many images as you like. By default each image is compressed to the one target size you picked; switch on “Select multiple sizes” to tick several sizes at once. You can download any single size from its row or all of them together as a ZIP file.

What if my image can't reach 200KB?

Very large, detailed images (for example a high-resolution PNG screenshot) may need both quality reduction and resizing. The tool keeps reducing dimensions step by step until the file fits or reaches a sensible minimum size, and tells you the final dimensions it used.
